This kind of goes back to when I was talking about American History X. It was a movie that made many people more aware about racism that is going on. I think movies can be a extreamly useful tool to send a message out. I think that movies can make many people aware of problems in our country. On the flip side, I think some movies are part of the reason we are having problems with school shootings and other situations. Some movies make teenagers beleive that it is cool to have guns, drugs, sex, ect. I think that people should be more aware of the messages their movies are sending out.

What do movies say about your generation? Do they provide a documentation or testament to your generation? Will that happen later?

How will this war and our current events be characterized in Hollywood?

Most movies has a deep impact on the way america really is, Some movies show riduculous things that shouldn't even be brought of. From ages 10-25 just to say, it seems that it's ok to watch. Menace to society, for instance, Young adults perhaps males picks up on the violence that's related to daily life. This is not okay, adults shouldn't allow their child to hear and watch negativity. Parents think that it's okay just cuz this is everday life. This is why people react to do things cuz they see it on tv and movies.

I agree with colton, about what he said that movies are to blame for some of the problems going on in the world. I think that just about every movie has something sex related in it and could be a reason why there are so many teens getting pregant and spreading sexual diseases. Another thing is drugs, people see it in movies and think its a cool thing to do because they saw other people doing it, but what they don't know is who they are effecting. Guns also are used in every movie no matter what. This makes peoeple think that it's easy to go and kill someone and not have to worry about because it seems so easy in movies.

Do we lose accountability of the individual if we blame movies, music, and media?

Movies influence people to want to be like specific person or character. It's usually not in a good way through the mainstream I've noticed. I rarely see a positive role model that people want to be like. Such as the new Batman. I haven't seen it, but I know everyone loves the Joker. Obviously he is the antagonist in the film, yet he is the favorite it appears. Now people think they are like that character, and it's just kind of annoying.
It's not really a documentation half the time. It seems to be films that shouldn't matter that much become what our society enjoys. Kind of how everyone was for bombing Afgahnistan after September 11, and now everyone says we shouldn't have did anything. Of course that is since we started attacking Iraq, but the point is now everyone hates that we even made a move towards the middle east in general.
Why is that people flip flop and deny it? Why can't people just admit the wrong and move on instead of dwelling on the subject negatively?

This is England has really affected how I've seen daily life. It shows racism and how different cultures discriminate eache other. It also shows how they can live together and have respect for each other.
The movie has to do with "sharps" and skinheads. It shows how it is possible for different races and people from different cultrues to come together. In my town there is a lot of "sharps". People don't judge each other because of their skin color or their backgrounds, they all just can hang out. No one is punished or left out.

I think it says that hopefully one day there won't be racial punishment, even though there are those few people who will always discriminate against others.

Films have done several things to effect daily life. When a film is controversial enough it can be the talk of the country. The way a film rubs off on people is different. When a satirical film is made the but of the joke obviously feel stupid, but to the viewers they see the truth.

Well that would depend on the type of movies a person watches. Some movies are educational while others are true fantasy/fiction.
Of course the educational films are going to be learning experiences. These types of movies are going to give you history, direction, and a sense of what is.
While the fictional movies are going to put out an unrealistic thought or act.For the majority there's always going to be a happy ending and a fairy tale life.
This is horrible because in todays society most of our children are being raised by what they see on television. This is because they either come from single family homes or there parents are out working late to give them a decent home.
Children began to believe what they see. When its nothing like their enviroment there going to daydream about that specific lifestyle.
Oceans Eleven is the perfect example of a fairytale. You have eleven guys who plan out this elaborate robbery. The films shows a person how to map out this crime.
What if a random group of people decide that this is the perfect crime for them to commit. This movie would have then given them aeverything that they needed to get and no.
It sends the wrong message to people like instead of saying you have to work hard to live a nice life. There saying take what you want at no cost.Which we all no is wrong.
My question would then be we why do wepromote crime to keep people at a certain level. And then we promote wealth as the way to be.Its all part of the plan i guess.

I think a lot of movies that have been coming out recently have nothing to do with the present generation. They are all about hereos and fantasy worlds.

I want a movie that shows what's going on now, and the real world. I'm personally sick of movies about heroes.

What about that new movie--American Teenager. It's a documentary about kids our age and how they are "grouped."

Everyone goes to movies. They connect us to each other. Movies give us something to talk about. Movies produce a source of entertainment, but sometimes they can mean something to an individual. When the movie means something to several individuals, they connect on a whole different level.
