Identification: EAGLE

An EAGLE to me represents freedom, strength, edurance, power, determination, fierce-ness. An exceptional figure. I relate beacause I have all these characteristics and MORE!!!!! I own my surrounding's.

Can you tell me some more about how you do this?

What does it mean that this particular animal is also endangered? Also, what does it mean that this animal is the symbol for America?

We are, in all of our texts, dealing with ideas of American identity--is that identity as simple as "freedom?" Most eagles are tagged and monitored for breeding. Some eagles are caged. Is that freedom? Let's talk about the idea of freedom versus the reality of freedom--Do you think Eustace is free when he is in the wilderness? Is he free to think and act as he wants to? How is his freedom as complicated as the eagle's freedom? How is yours?

And what does it mean to own your surroundings? Do you ever get upset when you see your surroundings change--like condos being built all over Chicago, gentrification and/or poverty happening? What about crime in your surroundings? Even your family/domestic surroundings can sometimes be upset by rent raises, divorces, deaths, etc.

Let's talk about issues of control, issues of freedom, and issues of acceptance.

I understand how you view yourself like this because I can see the motivation and determination in yourself. How is it easy for you to be so determined? What I mean is I find it hard for myself a lot of the time to be determined when the people around me didn't see the determination I felt inside.

That is a good question--How is it easy to be determined?
