Imagination Vs. Visual

How can a book or novel entertain the thoughts of someone who is accustomed to playing games, or seeing rather than thinking? How could imagining scenarios be more productive to a person who finds video games more entertaining than actually imagining what is happening in a book?

I believe a book can entertain someone who is used to seeing rather than reading by creating tangible descriptions that are almost that of a visual performance. The descriptions obviously have to be interesting enough for the reader to want to read, and this will entertain them and keep their mind occupied.

For someone who isn't into reading,
I think that the book in question would have to grab thier interest. They would definitely have to identify and connect with the book.
Image scenarios should challenge the viewer in more ways than one. What do they think about the images? How do they identify with them?

I think it would depend on the person. A book with more action and detail would probably spark more of an interest to a visual learner. The details would help create images in the mind that would pull the reader in more.
For some people i would imagine it could be very hard for them to be able to visualize these images instead of seeing them on a screen.
I think many people like being able to see what is going on, because it is easier to follow along. If people had a choice from reading a book or watching a movie based on the book most people would watch the movie. It would be less time consuming, and like i mentioned before easier to follow.

When reading a book that has photos it helps a lot to understand the character and the setting. Thats one way that it could entertain someone who is used to seeing more then just seeing or hearing. Another way is if the book is really descriptive it could make you feel like you are there.

My first thought would be that a person has to have a willingness to open up their minds to something new. You would have to open up your mind and try to use your imagination. Some people have forgot that in sense that they have a brain and that they can think on their own.
Society is so used to things being right at it's grasp. It's hard for some to sit still for a momment and take in the day. You can have some enjoyment without the distractions of video games or television.
It may be harder for some to understand this concept, but it can be attained if a person try's.

I'd rather believe that a person that is mostly into reading wouldn't have trouble visualizing what happens as they read. A person that is reading an interesting novel will often see the reality or thrive that they visualize that they are there. The things makes you think and also wonder that I could be reading more interesting things then just sit around playing a game or just plain doing nothing.

When I think about the seeing vs. thinking I think about how I feel about movies vs. books. A book allows you to create your own universe. Though the author will give you visual discriptions you can create how the character sounds or exactly where the table is in the room. A book allows you to create settings and themes that give your own take on the situation. Which is why so many people can read a passage in diffent ways. I can read a passage and think it has a gloomy overtone while you can see the pasage as an angrier tone. A book can allow someone to personalize the situation to better identify with it.

In a movie everything is all out there in front of you. A movie can create visually stunning pictures but can lack that personal connection that a book can give you. With a book you set the surrondings. With a movie the director sets the surronding. The actors portray the voice of the character how they think should be expressed. Have you ever read a book then watched a movie made of that book? Besides maybe cutting some things the book had or adding things the book didn't, did it feel that the movie was missing something? I think it's that personal connection that you get from reading a book.

We are missing a response from Colton.

Notice how Samantha's answer responds to the "nuances" of a reader. A nuance is a variation; Samantha looks at types of readers/learners and assesses the different type of reading prefrences available. This is important because we are asking you to look at complications and complexities--we are asking you to consider and address more than one issue/subject at a time.

I think the reason people read over play video games is because they have a more imaginative mind. People who play video games cant imagine their story how they see it. Its already their. With a book it allows the reader to see the characters how they want to. I think that is why others like reading over videogames.
